How do I make sure I am eating enough whole
grain?
There are lots of easy ways to get more whole grain into our
daily diet - look for the 'Whole grain' logo on our products to see
how much of the US recommended 48g is present in a serving:

What is whole grain?
Whole grain means that the whole grain kernel is present and
that the nutritious bran and germ have not been removed. So when
you see 'whole grain' or 'wholemeal' on a label it simply means it
contains all the edible parts of the grain, either as whole grain
pieces or ground up into whole grain (wholemeal) flour.
Why should we be eating whole grains?
Not only are whole grains great fibre providers, they also
contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Nutritionists believe we should all be eating more whole grain
foods, but surveys show that most of us are eating less than we
used to, and some of us are not eating any whole grain at all!
Although the Department of Health (NHS Choices Livewell site)
recommends that we eat whole grain foods, some countries make
specific recommendations about how much we should eat - in the US
for example, they have a goal of 48g of whole grain a day (based on
a 2000 calorie food pattern).
So start the morning with one slice of Kingsmill
