Bread and Butter Pudding
Ingredients:
- •Enough softened butter to lightly spread on each slice, plus a little extra for lightly
- •6 slices of Kingsmill Great Everyday White Bread, with the crusts left on
- 50g/2oz sultanas
- 2 large free range eggs
- 375 ml/12 fl oz of semi-skimmed milk
- 25g/1oz of golden caster sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- 25g/1oz Demerara sugar
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4 and lightly grease a
1litre ovenproof dish. Butter the bread and cut each slice
diagonally into 4s to form triangles. Layer the bread in to the
prepared dish, scattering the sultanas between the layers. Lightly
beat the eggs in a jug with the milk, sugar and vanilla. Pour over
the bread and grate nutmeg over the top. Bake for 35 - 40mins until
the top is golden and the pudding has set. Sprinkle with Demerara
sugar and serve warm.
Serving suggestion: Serve with custard or, for an extra special
treat, why not try single cream?
